Three brides with very different life experiences arrive at the home of their three spouses; one because her husband is on his ship, one because their new house is being built and one because her husband is the eldest son. The three sons' mother is bed ridden because of an awful riding accident but she has great power over the three, and over the two younger sons as well. There are various plot lines that involve a manipulative, poverty-stricken aristocrat who was once adored by the older son, drains - what happens when you don't build them and rights for women (bad). There is also romance and more awful nineteenth century medicine. Really fascinating stuff.Product details

Great story about 'real' people. Interesting story lines and not just happy endings. Life as I know it can be.
I forced myself to read on hoping it would get better.
It never didn't. Just rambled on about nothing.
